Our Brooklyn-based workshop will be a mash-up of writing exercises, feedback and a handful of readings. We will also bring a visual artist, a meditation guide and a local writer into the conversation during each visit. We are still in the process of nailing down the schedule, but the exact times and location will be posted in due time (No workshop will be held on July 4th).
The idea for the workshop in general comes from the desire to treat writing as a life practice that helps you engage differently with the world, develop empathy and humility, and to explore creative thinking. As with other practices, dedication and play are important, a published product far less so.
Whether you leave the workshop with a notebook full of fresh prose, ideas, insights into your creative process, and also whether or not you want to share your writing, is all up to you. We will also read and converse about relevant writings–see the Reading List page for a sampling.
Please note, you are welcome to register for the workshop at any time. After you fill out the registration form we will send a confirmation email. More info on the venue, schedule and what to bring with you will be forthcoming.
